Charles Albanel Hybrid Rosa rugosa 1982 |
At Bramble
and Rose our main business is that of growing and selling the older
varieties of roses…..the Albas, Gallicas, Rugosas, Hybrid Musks
and others….all of which are grown on their own roots….
We welcome
you to visit our nursery. Our display gardens are fairly extensive
and they can be very helpful when the size and habit of a rose are
in question. We feel it is important to take time to talk about the
roses with you…. To talk about your garden and how our roses
will fit your needs ….new inspirations and possibilities may
occur during your visit…. and by visiting you become familiar
with us and with our roses.
At the nursery
we have always sold roses in 1 gallon containers..or larger….
the plants being 1 year to 4 years old. This spring we went on line
and began offering roses in the typical 5” black band that most
mail order nurseries use…
Smaller price…smaller
plant by far, but cheaper to ship…. I don’t like them….
We now go
one step further. We transplant the babies in the 5” bands into
a larger 6” band. We feed them at their roots and we give them
all the time they need to grow out the bottom of their pots…
Once they
have done that, we feel comfortable in their ability to withstand
the stress of 3 to 4 days in a box, via USPS, to you…Our primary
concern is that they reach you in the best possible condition…that
extra transplant time should allow you to put them in the ground faster…with
some varieties going into the ground immediately.
We are selling
this new size 6” band for $15.00. Plus shipping and handling
(the shipping cost a bit more than the 5” band, but is still
half the cost of shipping a 1 gallon container) Our 1 gallon container
prices have gone up as well…$20.00 to $25.00 depending on the
age of the plant…again, shipping and handling are extra. At
this time we are still happily taking checks but, we realize that
lots of you would rather use plastic…. so we are contemplating
the move to add credit cards to our methods of payment for next year..
We feel more
strongly than ever that personal contact is what makes a business
successful. We are here to answer your questions, (when we can). And
offer advice (maybe more than you want)….just call or e-mail…brambleandrose@orcoast.com.
